Getting Started
I know navigating healthcare can feel overwhelming. I've designed my practice to be simple, personal, and free of red tape. Here's how it works - no automated phone systems, no front desk, just me.
Do you accept insurance?
No. I do not accept insurance. I am out-of-network with all insurance companies. I can accept HSA/FSA. I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Please see financial information for more.
Do you accept Medicare?
No. I do not accept Medicare. I cannot provide a superbill for Medicare patients. Please see financial information for more.
Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral from a doctor to be evaluated and treated by a doctor of physical therapy in the state of Illinois. Please be aware, if you plan to submit a superbill to your insurance, your insurance company may require a referral.
Can I book an appointment online?
No. I don’t have an online schedule, by design. If you are a new patient, I want to connect with you before scheduling to make sure we’re a good fit. Once you are an existing patient, we will schedule your next treatment or two at an interval that is most appropriate for you. If you need to cancel your appointment or reschedule, please email or text me as soon as possible.
What to Expect
Mint Physical Therapy is a solo medical micropractice, so you work directly with me for every part of your care. This section explains what happens during your sessions and how to prepare for your first visit.
What can I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit is 60 minutes of one-on-one, hands-on care in a private treatment space. After a brief review of your intake forms, I'll use a technique called General Listening to let your body guide the session - rather than guessing where your symptoms are coming from, I listen and follow what your tissues need.
Treatment combines gentle, hands-on techniques like Visceral Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapy. Most of the session is spent on the table, with 5-10 minutes at the end for questions and scheduling. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (joggers or pajama pants work well), and plan on about three visits spaced three weeks apart to assess how your body responds.
How long are sessions?
Treatment sessions are 60 minutes. Plan for a few extra minutes to handle scheduling future treatment sessions and payment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear or bring loose fitting clothing and layers.
How often will I need treatment?
Treatment is scheduled every 3 weeks or beyond, no sooner. The body needs at least 3 weeks to integrate treatment and heal before the next treatment.
Payment & Insurance
I've chosen an out-of-network model so I can focus entirely on your care instead of insurance requirements. This allows for longer sessions and a much simpler, more transparent payment process.
What are your rates?
Adult treatment is $200 per 60-minute treatment.
Pediatric treatment is $100 per 30-minute treatment, $200 per 60-minute treatment.
Do you provide superbills?
Yes, I can provide a superbill*, which is a document with ICD-10 diagnosis codes and PT procedure codes that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
*I cannot provide a superbill for you to submit to Medicare or Medicaid.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes, I can accept HSA/FSA.
Techniques & Services
I focus on how your whole body functions to find the source of your symptoms. Here you'll find answers to the conditions I treat, the manual techniques I use, and how my integrative approach works.
What kinds of conditions or symptoms do you treat?
See Conditions Treated and Symptoms Addressed pages for full details.
Do you use biofeedback?
Oh boy. This is a loaded question. The answer is yes and no.
Do you have an order for pelvic floor PT that says "biofeedback?" If your answer is yes, my answer is no, I do not do biofeedback with a machine. Your provider is trying to dictate what is done in your physical therapy sessions and they only want you to do physical therapy that includes a machine and probe or electrodes.
Do I do biofeedback? Yes, I use my hands to assess pelvic floor muscle activity and help a patient find and use those muscles in the most functional way possible. I use my hands, not a machine. I also do not like to be told how to do my job by other providers. I also don't tell other providers how to do their jobs.
What techniques do you use?
I use a manual, whole-body approach that is designed to restore mobility and balance to the internal systems of the body. Focusing on the whole body, these advanced techniques address the root cause of dysfunction rather than just managing symptoms:
- Visceral Manipulation
- Neural Manipulation
- Viscerovascular Manipulation
- Visceroemotional Relationships
- Craniosacral Therapy
- Craniosacral Fascial Therapy
- Negative Pressure Cupping
Is this like traditional physical therapy?
No. This is not traditional exercise-based physical therapy. If you are looking for traditional, exercise-based physical therapy, consider visiting the allied providers section.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
No, other than the virtual Pelvic Program, all my treatment is hands-on and in-person
Can we strengthen my pelvic floor?
The pelvic floor is a dynamic system of muscles that responds to the whole body. By improving visceral restrictions, scar tissue, and bony alignment, pelvic floor strength may improve, but we will not be focused on traditional pelvic floor muscle strengthening or Kegels.
Pelvic floor muscles need so much more than strength to do their job well. They need endurance, coordination, and anticipation. The best way to train the pelvic floor muscles for strength, endurance, coordination, and anticipation is hypopressive exercise or low pressure fitness. Please visit the allied provider section for hypopressive/low pressure fitness resources.
Can we strengthen my core?
Your core is a dynamic system of muscles that responds to the whole body. By improving visceral restrictions, scar tissue, and breathing mechanics, core strength may improve, but we will not be focused on traditional core strengthening exercises. Please visit the allied provider section for more resources.

What is your cancellation policy?
Please, please, please kindly try to give me as much advance notice as possible if you need to cancel your appointment. This allows me to have time to contact others to give your appointment time to another patient, and it keeps my very limited schedule full.
Please give 24 hours notice of cancellation whenever possible.
If there are two (2) occurrences of under 24 hour cancellations in a row, all future appointments will be cancelled and no future appointments will be scheduled.
If you do not cancel and do not show up to your scheduled appointment (no call/no show), the full treatment fee is required in full and no further appointments will be scheduled until the missed treatment fee is paid.
I have an illness/cough/cold/fever. Should I come to my appointment?
No, please contact me as soon as possible to cancel or reschedule.
If you are not feeling well, your body will not receive/integrate my treatment as well as when you are not fighting off an illness. It's best to wait until you are feeling healthy to receive treatment.
Please, whenever possible, give over 24 hours notice so I can give your treatment time to another patient and keep my schedule full. I know that isn't always possible with illnesses, but if you feel you are coming down with something, please reach out.
I'm feeling good. Should I come to my appointment?
No, please contact me as soon as possible to push back your appointment by a few weeks.
If we've been working together for some time and your symptoms have improved and you are feeling good, I'd prefer to push back treatment to see if we can maintain this good feeling without more treatment.
Please, whenever possible, give over 24 hours notice so I can give your treatment time to another patient and keep my schedule full.
I have my period. Should I come to my appointment?
Yes, please keep your appointment as scheduled. There is no reason to schedule treatment around your period. I have supplies and am prepared to do internal work at any point of your menstrual cycle, if/when it is called for.
If you are uncomfortable with internal work during your period, we will do other techniques at that visit.
