AboutWhat to Expect
A Personal, Hands-On Practice. I provide non-traditional, hands-on physical therapy in a private treatment space. I am out-of-network with all insurance companies.
Mint Physical Therapy is a one-woman show and operates as a medical micropractice, meaning patients work directly with the clinician at every step, from scheduling to treatment.
When you reach out to Mint Physical Therapy by email or phone/text, you are reaching out to me directly. There is no phone tree or front desk.
What to ExpectScheduling Your First Appointment
There is no online schedule, by design.
If you are a new patient, reach out by email or text to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. During this conversation we will discuss:
- your symptoms
- treatments you have already tried
- the type of treatment you are looking for
Once it is determined we are a good fit, we will schedule your first session.
What to ExpectDetermining if We Are
a Good Fit
My ideal patients have already tried something to improve their situation, such as:
- traditional western medicine
- traditional physical therapy
- chiropractic care
- acupuncture
- functional medicine or nutrition
- naturopathy
- herbal medicine
In most cases, I do not want to be the first stop.
I treat every patient as a whole, regardless of symptoms, but I do get the best results with abdominal and pelvic symptoms, including:
- abdominal pain
- pelvic pain
- digestive symptoms
- urinary symptoms
- bowel symptoms
- reproductive system symptoms
Other symptoms or conditions that have not responded to other therapies are also something I love to treat. I also love working on fingers and toes.
What to ExpectBefore Your Visit
Before your first visit, I will send you three forms to complete:
- Intake Form
- Consent & Privacy Form
- Payment & Cancellation Form
These forms will be sent by email from my electronic medical record (EMR) software called PTeverywhere and will say “Mint Physical Therapy,” which is my business name.
Using an EMR keeps your health information safe and secure.
Please complete these forms before your first session so we can use our time together for treatment rather than paperwork.
If you have any questions or need to cancel or reschedule, please reach out by email or text.
What to ExpectYour First Session
Sessions are 60 minutes in a private treatment room.
We will use most of that time for hands-on treatment, with about 5-10 minutes for questions, scheduling, and payment.
What to Wear
Please wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and layers.
Joggers or pajama pants with an elastic or drawstring waistband work well.
Please do not wear:
- jeans
- tight leggings
- compression garments
- spandex
If you have filled out your forms ahead of time, we will briefly review the information you provided and then begin treatment.
What to ExpectTreatment
Each treatment begins with a technique called General Listening. This technique comes from Visceral Manipulation and is used to “let the body speak.”
Rather than guessing where symptoms are coming from, I ask the body and listen and follow.
General Listening is followed by Local Listening, which allows the body and tissues to guide me to the specific areas and tissues that will be treated.
During treatment sessions, I use a combination of hands-on techniques including:
- Visceral Manipulation
- Visceral Vascular Manipulation
- Visceral Emotional Relationships
- Neural Mobilization
- Craniosacral Therapy (CST)
- Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT)
- Healing Touch
Treatment primarily involves the patient lying or sitting on a treatment table.
If necessary, I may ask you to fold your shirt up or waistband down to expose the area being treated. I may also guide you through specific movements to help the tissue respond.
What to ExpectAfter Your Treatment
Treatment is not finished when you get off the table. It can take up to three weeks for treatment to fully integrate.
Over the next few days your symptoms may improve, or they may flare. Immediate results are often temporary.
The most lasting results often appear 10–14 days after treatment, sometimes longer.
After treatment, it is helpful to:
- stay hydrated (have an extra glass of water that day)
- take a gentle walk or light movement
- eat a light, healthy meal
You are always welcome to reach out after treatment and let me know how you are feeling.
What to ExpectPlan of Care
I ask most patients to plan on 3-5 treatments before we decide whether further treatment is needed.
These treatments are typically spaced about three weeks apart. Many patients notice improvement over the course of 3-4 months.
If treatment continues to be helpful, visits may eventually be spaced further apart to every 4-6 weeks.
Once symptoms have resolved, some patients choose to continue treatment periodically for maintenance, while others schedule occasional visits if they notice something out of balance.
If my treatments are not working, we will discuss what I've been noticing over the course of treatment. I am often able to recommend another specialist or modality that may be a better fit.
My approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and science-supported, with an emphasis on listening to the whole person – not just chasing symptoms.
What to Expect
Mint Physical Therapy is a solo medical micropractice, so you work directly with me for every part of your care. This section explains what happens during your sessions and how to prepare for your first visit.
What can I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit is 60 minutes of one-on-one, hands-on care in a private treatment space. After a brief review of your intake forms, I'll use a technique called General Listening to let your body guide the session - rather than guessing where your symptoms are coming from, I listen and follow what your tissues need.
Treatment combines gentle, hands-on techniques like Visceral Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapy. Most of the session is spent on the table, with 5-10 minutes at the end for questions and scheduling. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (joggers or pajama pants work well), and plan on about three visits spaced three weeks apart to assess how your body responds.
How long are sessions?
Treatment sessions are 60 minutes. Plan for a few extra minutes to handle scheduling future treatment sessions and payment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear or bring loose fitting clothing and layers.
How often will I need treatment?
Treatment is scheduled every 3 weeks or beyond, no sooner. The body needs at least 3 weeks to integrate treatment and heal before the next treatment.
