Meet Dr. Renee Bergum Healing through connection, expertise & trust.

Hi there, I'm Dr. Renee Bergum, a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and the owner of Mint Physical Therapy. I specialize in integrative, hands-on physical therapy that helps patients reconnect with their bodies and rediscover comfort and ease in movement.

My skills are most helpful for resolving mechanical issues or emotional components of physical symptoms.

My approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and science-supported, with an emphasis on listening to the whole person – not just chasing symptoms.

My StoryHow I approach health & healing

The entire universe aligned to get me to where I am in my physical therapy practice today. My undergrad education started with a B.S. in Technical Communication with minors in Manufacturing Engineering (my original major) and Speech Communication.

After college, I spent time teaching business English in Hungary at an American manufacturing company. Upon returning to the U.S., I did technical writing, channel marketing, and technical training for another American manufacturing company where I learned all about diaphragm pumps and fluid dynamics.

From there, I started teaching group fitness and became a personal trainer, which led me to physical therapy school and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Now, I use ALL of that work & life experience every day working with human bodies.

My approach to health & healing has developed organically through education and experience, but I would describe it as osteopathic in nature - meaning I believe the human mind, body, and spirit are connected and cannot be separated.

I treat each human as a whole, always considering that symptoms in one area may be caused by dysfunction in another. I also believe it is inherent that all living things want to be healthy and want to heal, but sometimes they need outside intervention to remedy some dysfunction before healing can take place.

My skills are most helpful for resolving mechanical issues or emotional components of physical symptoms. The tissues guide treatment and tissues need time to integrate treatment and heal. As Jean-Pierre Barral says, "Only the tissues know."

About My PracticeTruly personalized care

I am the sole owner and only employee of Mint Physical Therapy.

Mint Physical Therapy is not a clinic with a front desk, multiple clinicians, and virtual assistant. I treat the patients, do the laundry, and everything in between. I treat every patient, handle scheduling & payment, and reply to every email & voicemail myself. I am the worst boss & best employee I've ever had.

I Value...

  • Consent-based care
  • Whole-body healing
  • LGBTQIA+ inclusion
  • Treating the root cause, not just symptoms
  • Trauma-informed approach

Why “Mint”?

Mint is named for both the qualities of the plant, and a play on the words manual and integrative.

  • Manual PT focuses on hands-on techniques.
  • Integrative PT combines conventional and non-conventional knowledge, skills, and techniques.
  • Manual Integrative PT (my practice) blends the two for truly personalized care.

Mint is refreshing, awakening, and energizing, it’s also calming, soothing, and comforting - all at the same time.

This is exactly how I want each treatment to feel
at Mint Physical Therapy.

The entire universe aligned to get me to where I am in my physical therapy practice today.
